Scholars Celebrated Christmas To Poor Children

AS YOU KNOW, one of CHOI's educational programs called Dollars For Scholars and Leaders For Tomorrow, enables young people from humble neighborhoods to study a career at an university or technical institute. These scholars had a great initiative in favor of children on this Christmas season. They previously planned to perform a celebration for poor children. In order to accomplish that goal they had to get funds to be able to acquire special breads, milk, chocolate, toys, presents, etc. to grant them to the children. The program also assisted this noble purpose.

Celebration took place a few days before Christmas at the Youth House located in H-4 Antenor Orrego neighborhood. There were children coming from poor villages and even little babies were took by their parents. A scholar, named Jonathan, disguised himself as a Papá Noel to cheer up children. The event started with dance, games, competition, etc. The cheerleader was also a scholar. After that funny time, each children received a glass of chocolate, a special bread and a toy as present.

All of them were happy and so celebrated Christmas which otherwise they wouldn't have possibly done. Scholars were keeping discipline during the event and also assisting in all that was needed. CHOI executive director, Mr. Orlando Bermúdez, was helping out as well.

COMO USTEDES SABEN, uno de los programas educativos de CHOI llamado Dólares para Escolares y Líderes del Mañana, hace posible que jóvenes de barrios humildes estudien una carrera profesional en una universidad o instituto técnico. Estos becarios tuvieron una gran iniciativa a favor de los niños en ésta temporada navideña. Ellos anticipadamente planearon realizar una celebración para los niños pobres. Con el fin de cumplir ese objetivo, tuvieron que conseguir fondos para poder adquirir panetones, leche, chocolate, juguetes, regalos, etc. para otorgarlos a los niños. El programa también apoyó este noble propósito.

La celebración se llevó a cabo unos días antes de navidad en La Casa de la Juventud ubicada en el barrio Antenor Orrego H-4. Hubieron niños provenientes de barrios pobres e incluso bebes muy pequeños fueron llevados por sus padres. Un becario, llamado Jonathan, se disfrazó de Papá Noel para divertir a los niños. El evento empezó con danza, juegos, concursos, etc. La animadora también fue una becaria. Después de ese divertido tiempo, cada uno de los niños recibieron un vaso de chocolate, un panetón pequeño y un juguete como regalo.

Todos ellos estuvieron felices y así celebraron la navidad que de otro modo probablemente no lo hubieran hecho. Los becarios estuvieron manteniendo el orden durante el evento y también ayudando en todo lo que se necesitaba. El director ejecutivo de CHOI, Sr. Orlando Bermúdez, tambien estuvo apoyando.
